Pichelsteiner (German Style Meat Stew)

This traditional meat stew makes the ultimate heart-warming dinner. Meat and vegetables are slow cooked in a delicious gravy, it couldn’t be easier.

Ingredients
  • 60ml olive oil
  • 400g beef rump
  • 400g pork shoulder
  • 1 onion
  • 3 carrots
  • 500ml beef stock
  • 5 tomatoes
  • 1 tsp. paprika
  • 4 potatoes, peeled, cut into 1-2 cm pieces
  • 100g celeriac, cut into 1-2 cm pieces
  • 100g green beans cut into 2cm pieces
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

Serves 8-10

  1. Cut the beef and pork into 2-3 cm pieces and add to the pot. Chop the onion, peel and cut the carrot into 1-2 cm pieces, de-seed and chop the tomatoes, peel and cut the potatoes into 1-2 cm pieces, cut the celeriac into 1-2 cm pieces and add to the pot. Add all other ingredients to the pot and cook on high for 8 hours.
