Do your kettles contains filters?
Yes all our kettles contain filters. Filters can be replaced during warranty period for wear and tear issue.
Can I heat other liquids besides water in my kettle?

No, the kettle is intended for heating water only. Do not use it to heat up any other liquids

Why does the noise of the kettle increase as the kettle comes to boil?

The water in this kettle is heated up rapidly, which causes the noise. This is a normal phenomenon and there is nothing wrong with your kettle.

How can I clean the outside of the kettle?

Clean the outside of the kettle and the base with a warm damp soft cloth. Do not let the moist cloth come into contact with the cord, the plug and the connector of the base.

Never immerse the kettle or its base in water and do not use abrasive cleaning agents such as scourers to clean the kettle.

What are the white spots on the bottom of my kettle?

Depending on the hardness of the water where you live, small spots may appear on the heating element of your kettle when you use it. This is the result of scale build-up on the heating element and on the inside of the kettle over time.

The harder the water, the faster scale builds up. Scale can occur in different colours and although scale is harmless, too much scale can influence the performance of your kettle. Descale your kettle regularly to pro long the life of your kettle.

Can I use the kettle without the anti-scale filter?

While the kettle will still function without the anti-scale filter, the flow of the pour may not be as smooth and there may even be a little ‘spitting’ during the boil with a full kettle. And of course, the function of filtering out minerals from getting into the cup will not be there. We would recommend always using the anti-scale filter. While some are metal, many of our kettles use a plastic anti-scale filter – these are all BPA-free and food safe, and will not affect the water taste.

Do I need to descale my kettle?

Yes, you have to descale your kettle regularly. Minerals present in tap water will cause scale to build up inside your kettle when water is heated.

Regularly descaling your kettle will help to: reduce the boiling time and save energy, keep the inside of the kettle clean and extend the kettles life.

Regular descaling prolongs the life of the kettle. We recommend that you descale regularly - at least monthly.

You must only use a descaler that is suitable for use in plastic products. If you use a descaling agent, follow the instructions on the bottle or package to descale your kettle.

The kettle doesn't work. What should I do?

This problem may have multiple causes:

The appliance is not connected to the mains.
The dry-boil protection has been activated.
The kettle needs to be descaled.
Below you can find the solutions for each of these causes.

Solution Cause 1: The appliance is not connected to the mains. Check if the plug of the kettle has been inserted properly into the wall socket and if the wall socket is working.

Solution Cause 2: The dry-boil protection has been activated. The dry-boil protection is a safety feature that automatically switches off the kettle. It will be activated if the kettle is switched on with insufficient or no water inside or if all of water inside the kettle has evaporated during operation.

To reset the dry-boil protection, you have to lift the kettle from its base and fill it with cold water. When you place the kettle back on the base, the dry-boil protection is reset and you can switch the kettle on again.

Solution Cause 3: The kettle needs to be descaled. Regularly descaling your kettle will help to: reduce the boiling time and save energy, keep the inside of the kettle clean and extend the kettles life.

Why is water ejected from the spout during heating up?

This indicates that the kettle has been filled beyond the maximum level indication.

For safety reasons, you should never fill the kettle beyond the MAX indication on your water level indication window.

There is water/condensation on the base of the kettle. Is this normal?

If you find some condensation or a few drops of water on the base, this is not a manufacturing defect but a normal occurrence.

However, if you see more water than just a few drops on the base or under the base, please contact the Russell Hobbs Consumer Service Department on 0345 658 9700.

The water boiled in this kettle tastes metallic. How can I improve the taste?

Try descaling the kettle according to the descale procedure. Rinse carefully afterwards.

Why does it take a longer time for the water to boil?

If the water boiling procedure has slowed down, the heating element of the kettle is probably covered with scale. Descale the kettle to remove the scale and revert back to quick boiling.

How can I descale the kettle and how often should I do this?

You must only use descaler suitable for use in plastic products. If you use a descaling agent, follow the instructions on the bottle or package to descale your kettle.

Regular descaling prolongs the life of the kettle. Kettles should be descaled regularly - at least monthly.

Contact your local or regional water board for information on the hardness of your tap water. If you use the kettle more than 5 times a day, you may have to descale it more often.

Regularly descaling your kettle will help to pro long the life of your kettle, keep the inside of the kettle clean and reduce boiling times which will then reduce energy consumption.

Can I throw away my kettle with the normal household waste at the end of its life?

No, to preserve the environment please hand it in at an official collection point for recycling or you can return to us and we will recyle it for you.

What happens when I accidentally switch on the kettle with no water or not enough water?

This kettle is equipped with boil-dry protection. The kettle will automatically switch off if it is accidentally switched on when there is no water or not enough water in it.

To use it again lift the kettle from its base and fill it with cold water to reset boil-dry protection. The kettle is now ready for use again.

As someone who lives in a pretty hard water area, I'm used to to the weekly cleaning of descaling the kettle with its fast build up of limescale. However with this kettle and built in filter so far it's been non existing, absolutely love it! The water tastes purer and its so easy to use I expected alot of faff but not at all. The filter cartridge is easy to fit and built in so when u fill the kettle it's used. There's even a handy count down screen on the top so you can see when your due to change the cartridge! The design is beautiful and I'm a fan the pretty blue light when it's boiling and seeing the bubbles. Definitely love this kettle

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great tasting tea I was surprised but how this changed the taste of my tea for the better compared with my old kettle. The boil is quiet and the water pours out smoothly so low risks of splashes. As you pour the cold water into the filter it does filter quiet slowly so if you have to fill it all the way to the top for a few cups of tea it will take a few more minutes than a standard kettle. The filtered water does make the tea taste better and more pure. At the top of a kettle is an indicator which tells you when you need to change the filter which is handy which works out to be about once a month. I would definitely recommend this kettle if you want the best tasting tea.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Smart and functional kettle I live in a hard water area and have always liked glass kettles. Now it seems I can have one as this kettle filters the water. The insertion of the filter was straight forward as the instructions were clear. Although there is a slight delay between adding the water and putting the kettle on - as the water needs to be filtered, this is very minimal. I am probably more aware now only to put in the amount of water needed into the kettle too so this will reduce energy costs. I am delighted that I won’t be descaling a kettle every few weeks. The kettle itself is very attractive and functional. The water is easy to pour in and out and I enjoy seeing the water bubbling.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love my kettle I have had my Britain’s kettle about 4 weeks. Living in a hard water area kettles don’t last for long and look very old and discoloured quickly. My Britain’s kettle looks so clean and Shiny, the beautiful blue lights come on when turned on,it’s so quick to boil and the glass makes it easy to see the quantity off water you are boiling. I have Grandchildren who always say we love nana tea. Visitors always ask where did I get my kettle from as they would like one. I can’t recommend my kettle enough I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best kettle I've ever had. I absolutely love this kettle. It's so sleek and stylish and looks great in my kitchen. The chrome effect with the glass looks so classy, and I love the fact that it's illuminated as it boils. It boils alot quicker than my old kettle, therefore saving me more electricity. The Brita filter, much to my surprise, really does make a difference. You can taste, and see, the difference between the Brita filtered water and the non filtered standard kettles. No more scummy bits floating in my cups of tea! I highly recommend this kettle.

Looks really smart I have hard water so get a lot of lime scale so hoping this will help with that, so far so good! Only issue is the filter means that you can only slightly fill the kettle each time, as you need to let the water drain though, maybe the filter could of been placed lower so that the kettle can be filled more … So a tad annoying when you want to make more than 2 small cups but otherwise fab!

I am amazed by the purity of the water after its boiled as my previous kettle always looked cloudy. I love the fact its a clear kettle, it has a tab on the top of the lid to show when the filter needs changing. It looks stylish and upto date with the added feature of small blue lights around the base which eliminate whilst switched on.

Being sceptical about water filters I gave the other half the benefit of the doubt and went with it. We have been using it for around 10 days now and although it’s a little annoying to fill as obviously it has to be filtered but the flavour of the water is amazing. Tea tastes so much better. A fresher and stronger flavour of tea. Once filtered it is very very quick to boil. All in all I’m extremely happy with the purchase
