How to choose a kitchen kettle

They’re one of the most common kitchen appliances worldwide. Over ninety percent of UK homes have one. They come in many shapes and sizes. What are we talking about here? We’re talking about the trusty old kitchen kettle of course.

Choosing the right kettle for your kitchen is important (especially if you’re as serious about your cup of tea as most Brits are). You want it to look good but you also want it to perform well. Kettles have advanced so much over the years that it’s often difficult to know what to look for.

Of course it’s a matter of personal taste but we thought we’d also lend a hand by taking a look at some important features to consider when it comes to choosing a kettle for your kitchen.

Stove top or electric?

We recommend going electric every time. Electric kitchen kettles boil water quicker and are safer because they are normally equipped with automatic shut-offs. They’re also much more energy efficient as the heat is more concentrated.

Rapid boil

Gone are the days of hanging around the kitchen, waiting for the kettle to boil. Rapid boil more or less comes as standard at Russell Hobbs. Our 3kW elements are super quick and boil water in just a couple of minutes.

Quick2boil is Russell Hobbs’ fastest appliance yet as it will make the perfect hot drink in seconds!

Capacity

The average kettle size is between 1.5L and 1.7L, which is adequate for many homes. However, Russell Hobbs has recently introduced a kitchen kettle with a 2L capacity, which may suit larger families and small workplaces.

Ease of use/comfortable handles

Convenience and comfort are a matter of course when it comes to Russell Hobbs’ electric kitchen kettles. A good kettle should ideally come with a 360 degree rotating base, for ease of use with both hands.

Another important thing to consider is how easy it is to fill your kettle from the tap. Integral flip-up lids are often easier to fill, especially if you are multi-tasking in the kitchen.

Handles are designed to give maximum comfort and are easy to grip while keeping your hand a safe distance from the steam-emitting spout.

Switched on style

Choosing the right style of kettle can brighten any kitchen and you‟ll be spoilt for choice at Russell Hobbs. But what about your other kitchen appliances? Whether you choose a kettle from our fabulous new Heritage Collection or any of our other ranges you‟ll usually find a matching toaster to go with it. This might help you when deciding on the perfect kitchen kettle.
